Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run is an international after-school program dedicated to promoting self-respect and healthy lifestyles for girls grades 3-5. The goal is to help girls break out of their "girl box", which is a place girls go around middle school. Inside this box, girls begin to act how they believe others want them to, rather than expressing who they truly are. We use experiential learning programs, which combine training for a 5K race/walk event with curricula designed to encourage a lifetime of positive choices and self-discovery.
The season ends with a celebratory 5K event in which the girls participate with their team, coaches, and community. Girls who participate will have the opportunity to be paired with an adult running buddy to run/walk with during the final 5K. All levels of walkers and runners from any school are welcome to attend.
Due to the success of Girls on the Run, its sister program Girls on Track, was started for 6th - 8th graders. The structure of the program is the same, however the character-building and fun curriculum is designed to encompass middle school experiences. Both curricula are designed so that girls can participate in consecutive seasons.

What to Bring
To participate fully in gymnastics, clothing should be easy to move around in and be free of zippers and buttons. Additionally, long hair should be pulled back, jewelry should be removed, and feet must be bare on gymnastics equipment.
There is a designated viewing area for non-participants, and we ask that non-participants stay in this area. This viewing area has many seats for parents and others to stay during the gymnastics classes. The outer gymnasium is reserved for use by Oregon State University physical activity classes and is not available to KidSpirit Families without prior reservation.
