Classes

My child wants to know which classes his/her friends have enrolled in, can I find out?

Our enrollment lists are confidential. Your privacy is important to us, therefore we do not disclose this information. You can always call them as well.

How can I make sure my child gets into a group with their friends?

The only way to assure this is by coming in together to sign up at the same time. Activities fill up quickly and are available on a first come first serve basis.

Can I switch my child's summer camp classes after I have already registered and paid?

The administrative costs associated with class changes are significant enough that we will no longer be able to change class schedules. If there is a medical reason, we can accommodate your needs on an individual basis.

If a class my child wants to get into is full, can I put them on a waiting list?

The quality of your child's experience is very important to us, so we abide by strict student to teacher ratios. This means that often a class may become full. For this reason, we offer waiting lists for every camp and every session. If you add your name to a waiting list, you are not obligated to switch classes if the spot becomes available.

Lunch

Do you provide lunch?

Lunch time is supervised, but we do not provide lunch to the campers. There is usually time in the mid-morning for a snack break as well. Please keep in mind when packing a lunch and snack for your child to pack items like bananas, sandwhiches, grapes, and yogurt in containers so that they won't get smashed or make a mess in your child's lunch sack or backpack. Also, remember to pack silverware and napkins. Finally, a healthy lunch and snack are essential for your child to keep their energy up and feeling great for the day's events!

Does Lunch-Care include lunch?

You provide the lunch; Kidspirit will provide extended care for half-day campers. Lunch-Care is from 12:00-1:00 for those campers that attend half-day camp and are unable to be picked up or dropped off at the designated times. The additional fee for Lunch-Care is $10 a week or $4 daily for drop-in.

What if my child forgets their lunch?

For these emergencies KidSpirit will purchase a hotdog and soda from the Memorial Union. The cost is $5.00 and will be charged to your child's KidSpirit account. This service is to be used onliy if your child forgets his/her lunch, not on a regular basis.

Time/Check-In & Check-Out

My child won't be coming to camp today. What should I do?

If your child won't be coming to camp for a day, please call the office at 737-KIDS to let us know, or tell an office staff member. A make up session will not be available unless you provide a doctor's note.

Where does my child check in for camp?

Check-in and checkout for camp is located in the walk of the Memorial Union next to the metered parking lot. In the event of rain we may move check-in and checkout inside Langton Hall upstairs in the gymnasium.

What happens if we arrive late to check-in?

If you arrive late and the check-in process is over, please bring your camper(s) to the KidSpirit office, 125 Langton Hall. He/she will be checked in and escorted to class.

My child has to leave early today, what do I do?

Please write a note and give it directly to staff or call the office (737-KIDS) to let us know when you would like to pick up your child. If we know ahead of time we can get them from their scheduled activity and have them ready for you when you arrive. If you don't know ahead of time just come in to the office and we can help you then.

What happens if I am late picking up my child?

Check out is at 4:30 pm. If you know ahead of time that you will be late, it is best that you call the office at 737-KIDS (5437) and let us know. Your child will attend After-Care until you arrive. You you are not able to call the office, your child will be escorted to After-Care at 4:45 pm, which is available until 5:30 pm. Your child's account will be charged the $4/day fee for drop-in After-Care.

What happens if I am late picking up my child from After-Care?

Our official policy is to charge $1/ minute past 5:30, but if you are just a few minutes late it is usually not a problem as long as it is not an ongoing occurance. If there is an emergency, we will most likely wave the extra fee, but each instance will be taken on a case by case basis. We generally have office staff working until 8 PM, and there will be no time when your child will be left alone, even if your child is still there by that time. If need be, KidSpirit director Karen Swanger will take your child home with her to ensure your child's safety.

What is the check out process?

There are two pick up options for campers. Option 1 is for children that are able to sign his/herself out. They will go to a seperate line when leaving to sign out and leave their name tag. Option 2 is for children that must be signed out by a parent, guardian, or other authorized persons. Every person wishing to pick up a child must be authorized to pick that child up and present a picture ID. The parent or guardian will designate one of these options for their child during registration.

How do I change who is authorized to check-out or visit my child during camp?

The saftey of your child is our number one priority. Parents and/or guardians are the only people that can add authorized persons to pick up a child. The parent or guardian needs to come into the office with picture ID and fill out the necessary forms for their child.

What if I forget to bring my photo ID to checkout? Can I still check my child out?

We ask that everyone planning to check their child out bring a photo ID. If it is only a minor inconveinience, such as going back to your car to get it, we ask that you do that. If a photo ID is not readily available for you, we will bring you and the child you wish to check out to the office so that we may ask questions to verify who you are, and if the child knows you.

Cost

Why have you had a price increase?

Minimum wage has gone up this year causing our overall cost increased. We are still trying to keep our costs as low as possible. Depending on the age program, Summer Day Camp session fees range from $4-5.25 an hour for a half-day session and $3.20-3.75 for a full-day session!

Do I pay in full when I register?

Payment for the first two weeks of camp is due when you register. Payment for the first two weeks of camp is due when you register. Payment for the remaining session/s is due two weeks prior to the start of the session.

Do I qualify for the affiliate discount?

Yes, if you are a current student, staff faculty, or retired/emeritus faculty at OSU.

Miscellaneous

Do you have a lost and found? Where is it?

Children can sometimes leave items behind at camp, or during rec classes. If we find items we place them in our lost and found located in the KidSpirit offce, Langton 125. It is helpful for us if you clearly label your child's items; first and last name, follwed by a phone number if possible. That way even if you are unaware that it's lost we can contact you to let you know.

What happens if the free T-shirt my child received is the wrong size? Can I exchange it?

If we accidentally give you a size other than the one you had marked on your registration sheet, you are guaranteed to be able to exchange the one you received for the size you originally wanted. If you accidentally mark the wrong size or decide your child needs a bigger/smaller size, we will be able to exchange it as long as supplies last.
