KidSpirit Advanced Technology Education Camp

KidSpirit Advanced Technology Education Camp

Welcome to KidSpirit Advanced Technology Education Camp! We are excited to announce that we have opened a new full-day group for both our Kindergarten to 2nd-grade groups and our 3rd to 8th-grade groups! Yes, the background here is the code created by our awesome camper on the left as well as our instructor's on the right.

For our K-2 grade kids, this will be the Tangerine group. For our 3-8 grade kids. this will be the Fuchsia group.

These groups will be part of the KidSpirit Technology Education Camp series and will focus on introducing kids to coding and problem-solving using Code Studio. Campers will learn to program in JavaScript, a general-purpose multi-paradigm programming language that can be used to build websites, mobile apps, desktop apps, games, and more! This camp aims to inspire young programmers to learn and explore computer science on their own. There are no additional costs for this group and as with all of our groups, it will be limited to 14 campers per session.

These camps would be a mix of computer programming and outdoor physical activities, theatre, and education activities.

We will be offering the KidSpirit Technology Education Camp series all summer if you would like to add an additional camp session.

What Our Campers/Coders Will Be Learning

JavaScript - A general-purpose multi-paradigm programming language.

Sounds boring, so what can it do you ask? Well, ANYTHING! Yup, from a computer program to websites to mobile apps to system services and anything that can be done by a computer.

So What Are Some Examples Of Things Made With JS?

KidSpirit has been using JavaScript to help with our office operation since last summer! The KidSpirit Advanced Remote Integration Network or K.A.R.I.N. is built entirely with JavaScript. This little cute chatbot has been helping us with COVID-19 health tracking, staff time tracking, content sharing and much more!

Who Is Teaching This?

This year, we are excited to have staff studying computers in school to teach our camps!

All of our instructors are studying in our school of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

We have instructors from Electrical and Computer Engineering and also instructors from Computer Science.
