Develop Water Safety, Confidence, Independence & Perseverance

At KidSpirit Aquatics, swimmers will work on strokes, kicks and water independence in a non-competitive environment - with a focus on safe water practices, form development, and building endurance. Swimmers will use the heated indoor "Women's Building" pool to develop skills and have a blast! Our talented KidSpirit staff coach with a growth mindset, providing clear feedback that will help swimmers develop and advance!

KidSpirit Aquatics is constructed using the swimming skill sequence and aquatic safety considerations of the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program. Red Cross' lesson plans are well equipped to support all learners at their unique pace, increasing comfort level in the water with specific and developmentally supportive instruction.

Curious about what level will be the right fit?

KidSpirit's levels are based on Red Cross Learn to Swim curriculum, which focuses on many different skills per level, progressing the skills with each level.

Many KidSpirit families have also had classes with the Osborn Aquatic Center, which utilizes a different style of skill progression in their curriculum, the Liquid Degree Program.

For the purpose of skill level and water comfort level, consider this rough comparison to register a swimmer with experience from Osborn Aquatics - and let's have some fun!

Swim Levels at KidSpirit

Pre-Pollywogs (Ages 2-3)

Pre-Pollywogs is our parent-child class, for children ages 2-3 (24-36 months). Parents will learn how to assist their swimmer through key developmental swimming skills as we learn to float, kick, and develop the basis for early water comfort!

Pollywog Classes (Ages 4-5)

Our Pollywogs classes are the building blocks of a child's first swimming experience! Pollywogs in each of the four levels will be given a basic water introduction including body adjustment, blowing bubbles, floating, kicking, arm motions, and general water safety.

Learn to Swim Levels (Ages 6-18)

In the levels, swimmers will learn and advance their water skills, including floating, kicking, breathing, and arm motions. Front and back crawl and elementary backstroke are emphasized.

You may use these descriptions to enroll in the class that seems appropriate for your child's comfort and skills. If you have questions such as which level is the right fit, or if you would like to know about conversions from other level systems, please call our office.
