Red Sauce for Pizza

Red Sauce for Pizza

Serves: 2 large pizzas

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
  • 6 oz. can temato paste
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Pinch crushed red pepper, optional

Directions:

  1. Add the olive oil and garlic to a sauce pot and cook over medium heat for 1-2 minutes, or just until the garlic is soft and fragrant
  2. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, salt, basil, oregano, some freshly cracked pepper and a pinch of red pepper flakes if using. Stir to combine
  3. Cover the pot, allow the pot to come to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low, and let simmer for 15 minutes minimum, or up to 30 minutes
