WHY COOKING ACADEMY?
Creating Confidence &
Independence in the Kitchen
Cooking encourages children’s thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. It also helps them develop skills in counting, measuring, following a sequence, following directions, and cause and effect. Most importantly, cooking can help develop a child’s confidence and independence in and out of the kitchen!
NEW TO COOKING ACADEMY?
Our Cooking Academy camps are for chefs grades K-12 who are excited about cooking and learning new skills in the kitchen. Whether your child is an independent chef or is still learning, they will be able to prepare a wide variety of delicious meals twice a week for the family. KidSpirit cooking staff will be leading all activities to live through Zoom, helping your chefs build and learn new cooking skills from your own kitchen. Every class, your child will prepare a dish for the family to enjoy together.

Supporting Your Chef in the Kitchen
Depending on how comfortable your chef is in the kitchen, you may need to provide them with some support. We do our best to choose recipes that will allow families to be as hands-off as possible, but it may be necessary to help them out during the class.
Here are some tips to help chefs be more independent during cooking class:
- Cook with your chef outside of class to help familiarize them with your kitchen
- Print recipes (if possible) and review before class
- Review any unfamiliar ingredients and/or supplies
- Help your chef gather and consolidate the materials and ingredients before class
- Grocery shop with your chef so they know what ingredients they have available
A big Thank You to our partner, the Moore Family Center, for allowing us to use their kitchen facility for our cooking classes!
Also, a Thank You to Bob's Red Mill for the wonderful products, WE LOVE IT!
