Welcome to KidSpirit Sewing Academy, where creativity knows no bounds! Our sewing programs are designed to inspire and empower young minds while fostering a love for crafting and creativity. Whether your child is a beginner or an experienced sewist, there's something for everyone at KidSpirit.

We will focus on the fundamentals of needle safety, as we flex our creativity and follow instructions to make unique projects. From bags, to book-covers, to needle-felted wool, there’s never a dull day in the sewing room!

Sewing 101: Level 1

  •  Saturdays, 9:00 am -12:00 pm

Sewing 101: Level 2

  • Saturday, 9:00 am -12:00 pm

Camp Descriptions (Sewists, grades 3-8)

Sewing 101:  Whether a beginner or with some experience, sewists will learn hand stitching and machine basics while crafting personalized projects like patches, quilt blocks, pillowcases, totes, and aprons. All supplies and sewing machines are provided, ensuring a fun and hassle-free experience for young sewists eager to learn and create

  • Level 1:  Dive into the world of sewing in this intro-level sewing class! Young sewists will learn how to thread and operate a sewing machine and how to use a pattern. They will create fun projects such as tote bags, pillowcases, and pajama pants that help advance their sewing skills and encourage creativity.
  • Level 2:  Building on the skills from level 1, this class will help foster young sewist’s skills and help them advance their sewing techniques. With a greater emphasis on embroidery and quilting, sewists will learn about pattern making and embroidery while advancing their already-present beginner sewing skills. This class will include projects such as quilted pillow cases, aprons, an embroidery project, and so much more

Drop off and pick-up location

Check-In and Check-Out takes place in Langton Hall, room 125. If you need to pick up a camper early, call the KidSpirit office ahead of time, and we'll be happy to have your child in the office waiting to check out.

Note:

When picking up a camper, you must be an authorized pick-up on the camper's registration and have a valid photo ID. If you have any questions about who is or isn't authorized to pick up your child, please call the office.

What to bring and wear

Children should bring a backpack with a water bottle and a snack. Please try to send  your child in athletic clothes without buttons, zippers and metal, to protect our equipment. Long hair should be pulled back and jewelry should be removed. Wear close toed shoes.

NOTE: We do not allow electronic devices (phones, video games, etc.).
