Strengthening Coordination, Competence and Perserverence with Machine and Fine Motor Practice
No matter who you are or what you like to do, sewing and textile hand crafts are great skills to have! Whether you want to become a renowned fashion designer or you just tore your jacket, knowing the basics of sewing and tool safety will come in handy in all walks of life!
Whether you’re brand new to sewing or you make all your own clothes, KidSpirit will inspire tailors of all stripes in our new sewing curriculum! Each class will incorporate machine sewing projects as well as hand crafting projects, as we cycle from desks to sewing machines through the day.
We will focus on the fundamentals of needle safety, as we flex our creativity and follow instructions to make unique projects. From bags, to book-covers, to needle-felted wool, there’s never a dull day in the sewing room!
In each one-week (Monday - Thursday), half-day session throughout the summer, our experienced instructors will guide tailors through several small projects which they can take home at the end. We will learn about unique and interesting creative traditions as well as practice the basics of sewing.
All materials will be provided, but if you have your own fabric or equipment you would like to work with in the classroom, you are welcome to bring it along!
